Israeli occupation authorities pressured, on Saturday, a Palestinian family to knock down their own home in occupied Jerusalem.
On Saturday afternoon, a Palestinian family demolished their own home in the town of Jabal Al-Mokabber, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, leaving them homeless.
Media sources said that the Al-Qanbar family demolished their home in the Jabal Al-Mokabber neighborhood, under the pretext of building without a license.
Sources added that the Israeli municipality imposed a fine on the family prior to delivering the demolition order against their home which was built six years ago.
The Al-Qanbar family destroyed their home, which provided shelter for seven family members, in order to avoid the 80,000 shekel ($21,650) fine if the municipality carried out the demolition.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Israeli occupation authorities have ordered the demolition of 145 structures in occupied Jerusalem in 2024, displacing 199 Palestinian citizens.
According to Article 17 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights;
